GRADO offers 6 series of headphones. They are, from the most to the least expensive:
•The PRO series, 2 models: the PS1000e and PS500e
•The STATEMENT series, 1 model: the GS1000e
•The REFERENCE series, 2 models: the RS1e and the RS2e
•The PRESTIGE series, 5 models: the SR325e, SR225e, SR125e, SR80e and SR60e
•The IN EAR series: 3 models: the GR10, GR8 and iGi
•The IN MOTION series, 1 model: the i GRADO
The ''e '' Series, the third generation of GRADO headphones, has been introduced in July 2014 and represents a considerable step forward compared to previous Series. ''60 years of GRADO expertise have led to design the most refined driver geometry which will track music with unequaled precision'' mentioned Jonathan GRADO.
Under the tab ''NEWS'' you will find a list of improvements.
All GRADO headphones (except the iGRADO and the "IN EAR series") are made by hand in the USA.
All models (except the IN EAR models) use the ''bass reflex principle''.
The SR325e has an alloy chamber.
The STATEMENT and REFERENCE series both use mahogany for the chambers. The wood grain is carefully taken into consideration when preparing the mahogany piece, not for appearance but for sonic reasons: the music is silkier.
The PRO models PS1000e and PS500e have an alloy chamber with a mahogany sleeve; the purpose is to control the unwanted resonances.
PS1000 and GS1000e share ''EXTRA LARGE PADS'' for ultimate comfort during lengthy sessions and a better isolation from ambient noise.
The PS1000e, GS1000e, PS500e and SR325e have a leather covered headband. |

"PRO" SERIES
PS1000e :
As soon as the first winkles of the PS1000 were ironed out, this product joined the ranks of the best amongst the best.
It is still true today since upgraded to PS1000e. Treat yourself, have a listen!

PS1000e
Our flagship model: no compromise… just the best up to the tiniest detail!
Hand stitched leather band, solid mahogany, chrome plated chambers …It looks very impressive!
The very large chambers, of the same shape as the GS1000, are made of an alloy then ''sleeved'' with mahogany. The challenge here was to perfectly ''mate'' driver and chamber.
The PS1000e uses an 8 conductor cable made from long grain, oxygen free copper for maximum transparency, and a 1/4'' plug (Rhodium plated for less ''graininess'').
Because of its details level in the highs, silky midrange and tremendous authority in the low register, you will think you are in the best seat of one of the best sounding music halls in the world.
Cushions, close to 10 cm (4 inches) in diameter, create a personal sound chamber and offer an unequaled confort, superior to all other models.
It is the headphone at its best !
The drivers are paired with a 0.5db maximum tolerance.

PS500e :
John CHEN, Director of sales at GRADO in the US, said after listening to the PS500 when released "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree"… It still applies to the improved ''e'' model. The PS500e creates a very articulate and dynamic musical presentation loved by demanding professionals and shroud audiophiles, all this in a compact package.

PS500e
It walks in the steps of the well-known PS500.
The chambers are made of alloy and ''sleeved'' with mahogany in the very same fashion as the PS1000e: controlling unwanted resonances is the name of the game. A very high end headphone in a modern and chic look, the headband is leather covered!
The PS500e has all that is needed to be a very valuable tool for critical monitoring by professionals and serious listeners alike.
The PS500e uses an 8 conductor cable, made from long grains oxygen free copper for maximum transparency , has a 3.5mm plug Rhodium coated and comes with a metal adapter 3.5mm female to ¼'' male.
The PS500e uses our "LARGE PADS" (same as RS2e and RS1e).
The drivers are paired with a 0.5db maximum tolerance.

GS1000e :
The main assets of the GS1000/i/e are the size of the chamber and ear pads both similar to the ones of the PS1000e.

The original GS1000, revisited in 2009 (GS1000i), is now in its third generation: it has received in 2014 the latest series of improvement and is now named GS1000e.
A massive driver takes the GS1000e to new heights.
The result is most interesting: a very large and precise stereo image, a phenomenal extension of the low register, a superb high end and a typical GRADO sound.
It is fitted with an 8 conductor cable for improved transparency and a ¼ inch plug Rhodium plated for less graininess.
The drivers are paired with a 0.5db maximum tolerance.

They are to be inserted in the ear canal and are ideal for active people (joggers for instance) and as isolating devices in a noisy environment.
They are called passive noise cancelling phones.
The very old technology is used in hearing aids (because of the minuscule size of the transducer (driver). A recent and drastic improvement of the transducer’s quality now allows using them for critical listening.
A proper fitting in the ear canal is paramount to a good reproduction.
These earphones do not have a resonating chamber of their own, they are using your ears and if the combination earphone/ear is not proper, 2 problems will appear:
- No noise cancelling
- No bass frequencies
This is why several “EAR MOULDS” are offered in the package: use the one that best fits your ear canal.
Special care has to be taken in order to make sure that the wax produced by the ears does not find its way into the earpiece: see
“Maintenance and cleaning of GRADO IN EAR models”
For technical specifications: see "Comparative charts"
